Basketball Recruiting
He was born in Serbia, grew up in Canada, kicked soccer for basketball, sprouted nine inches in two years, draws comparisons to Dirk Nowitzki and as a sophomore, is already gaining recruiting attention from several high major college basketball programs.
Kiski School (Pa.) centers Sim and Tanveer Bhullar are unmistakable and imposing physical specimens on a basketball floor. Sim, a sophomore, stands at a befuddling 7-foot-4, looking down, ever slightly, at his younger brother, Tanveer, a 7-foot-2 freshman.
“Ever since I was little, I was pretty tall, but the past few years, I started growing a lot more,” said Sim, who is 295 pounds.
“I was a normal child when I was born,” Tanveer said, now 285 pounds. “But I think since I hit grade one or grade two, I started growing a lot.”

In need of more scoring from its backcourt, the West Virginia basketball staff has been hitting the road all season in search of junior and senior candidates to compliment incoming 2010 guard Noah Cottrill. One prospect they have become seriously involved with is Calvin Newell of Evelyn Mack Academy in Charlotte, N.C.
West Virginia has been in need of a floor general point guard since Darris Nichols graduated two years ago. While the Mountaineers have fielded a pair of teams since Nichols’ departure who have been competitive in the Big East and played their way into the NCAA tournament, one vital ingredient has been missing. Smooth ball handlers who can consistently lead an offense, set their teammates up to score, rarely turn the ball over and contribute some offense of their own come at a premium in recruiting.
But there exists one such point guard who is among the top four high school guards in the nation in assists -- junior Tavon Sledge -- of Dix Hills, N.Y. The WVU staff has their sights on Sledge and a week and a half ago, he received their verbal offer.
